e016 & e017 (i'm late, but not preggerz)

Soo...this is a little delayed. I apologize, I was burnt out last week and this weekend. In an effort to make up for the missing post, I give you eleven tracks. Just for all of you, and they are all boombastic in their own special ways.

Get up on that.

e016 (i'm late)

This is a little electro outfit out of the UK called The Whip. Although there is truly an onslaught on artist in this genre, some actually have a little bit going for them...just a little. The album overall is pretty good, but this particular song right here stands out and up and walks out the door with your five bucks...word.
(mp3 download) The Whip "Save My Soul"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

This is super-soaker old.
Every Move A Picture seemed to come and go quite quickly, there was so much hype...and now, nothing. But I still dig the guitars in it hard, and you can relate to this song. Or the fact that after midnight...things change...sometimes good...sometimes bad. I always say never start doing something after midnight...all bad.
(mp3 download) Every Move A Picture "On The Edge of Something Beautiful (At 12 AM)"
purchase: iTunes

This is even older, like almost a decade. I never got into
The Vines too much, always been into Outkast. When they released their "Outtathaway" single, this cover of "Ms. Jackson" was the b-side. Jamming.
(mp3 download) The Vines "Ms. Jackson"
website: official | myspace

Another UK band.
The Wave Pictures make cool, super lo-fi, Arctic Monkeys sounding stuff. It has a little bit more sunny, beach day feel to it, though. They have tons of material out (through their website) and for the most part, it's all something to check out. Sooo...CHECK IT OUT.
(mp3 download) The Wave Pictures "Eskimo Kiss"
website: official | myspace

Heard about this from
Hot Chip's "DJ Kicks" mix. It's the first track, and is super cool electronica/r&B? Maybe...anyway. This has been a favorite of mine for awhile. And now I give unto you Grovesnor.
(mp3 download) Grovesnor "Nitemoves"
purchase: iTunes

e017 (but not preggerz)

I don't know much at all about Shy Child, except they make some pretty sweet tunes. Spank Rock is even featured on one of their tracks. That's enough to get me stoked...most of the time. Well, seeing as summer is 6 months away (about), I figured it was perfect timing to put up this jimmy.
(mp3 download) Shy Child "Summer"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

From Venice.
Japanese Motors. Sound like a more surfier version of The Strokes. They make some rockin' tracks. And should be looked out for...mainly because they are local (to me). And I want to get credit if they blow up (maybe?).
(mp3 download) Japanese Motors "Crooked Gun"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

Everyone knows Justice's "We Are Your Friends." Well, this is the original. The band is called Simian, and in all honesty...I am into the original more than the remix, maybe because the Justice is being super over-played along with their version. Anyway, what do you think?
(mp3 download) Simian "Never Be Alone"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

Dancey disco indie stuff. Yep. That's what Friendly Fires is doing. It makes you feel teh good and get all up in stuff...knee deep. Sorry, I'm tired and feel like making up nonsense...live with it. Anyway, listen and take it how you want it..."any way you want it, that's the way you need it."
(mp3 download) Friendly Fires "Skeleton Boy"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

So there is a Ladyhawk and a Ladyhawke. Ladyhawke is who this is. And one of the few girl-fronted music acts around that I get into. This beat beats, if you know what I mean. Anyway, it's a good song, and I'm almost done...so my mind is done.
(mp3 download) Ladyhawke "Dusk Til Dawn"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

I've followed Marty James since the Scapegoat Wax days, and I'm super stoked now that he has One Block Radius and is gaining some notoriety...albeit small, but definitely more than with Scapegoat Wax. This is off their self-titled sophomore release, and it's a story of lost love...aww how feminine...it's actually a good track. So, let your muscles down, dudes.
(mp3 download) One Block Radius "Wantin' U Back"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

HA! I did it. In your face. Now let's see if I can get Wednesday's up in time....:/

e015 (i've got nothing clever)

MUSIC: I'm phoning it in today.

First off, I got some 80's snaps for you dudes. It's Mr. Mister with some of the most awesome vocalism in the World. Officially, the WORLD. Unofficially....not really, but I still get a kick out of this...all the time. Kicks.
(mp3 download) Mr. Mister "Broken Wings"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

Throw Me The Statue. I bought this album for the sole fact that there are boobs on the cover. I'm sorry. It's the truth, but it was well worth it. Lured in by boobs, I got an album of happy, good-feeling songs for my ears to rejoice to. So, here is one of my favorites from the album.
(mp3 download) Throw Me The Statue "This Is How We Kiss"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

Before Daniel Rossen started Grizzly Bear, he started Department of Eagles. It's super indie-sounding stuff. This particular track reminds me of Radiohead's "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi." But in a less-Radiohead way. It's called "Sailing by Night."
(mp3 download) Department of Eagles "Sailing By Night"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

Well, "Chinese Democracy" was basically a load of ballcrap. But before it's release, Cassettes Won't Listen released a free album called "Ludacris Democracy." It's mashed the then leaked tracks from the Guns N' Roses album, and Ludacris vocal tracks. It's a joyous occasion, and this is for anyone who feels like slapping someonez face.
(mp3 download) Cassettes Won't Listen "Slap"
*It used to be available here...but the RIAA got upset...

The damn near coolest emcee in Los Angeles...maybe even CA....maybe even THE UNIVERSE is Nocando. This is of course my opinion, but I stand by it...strongly. He released a mixtape this year entitled "LA VS Hollywood" and it is just firedome2008. Trust please...trust. This track uses the very well-known beat from Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy," and Nocando brings it a whole new life. Enjoyz.
(mp3 download) Nocando "Evil By Nature"
purchase: PayPal

Well, there it is. All there...I may post my Friday one tomorrow...on Friday. Maybe on Saturday, we'll see...peace yoz.

a RESPONSE from MRS. NAOMI SOLOMON

So, she sent me the e-mail I posted yesterday, to which I responded:

"I'm sorry, but I don't believe in God, so I think your late husband's money wouldn't be used properly if given to me.

Oh, and good luck with the whole dying thing."

This is her response with ACTUAL PICTURES!:

"Dearest holy one In Christ,

I know you are surprise in receiving this letter, but as a servant of the living God, you should know that our ways is not his ways, my Bible tells me that God works in many ways and all things works out for good to them that believed in Christ Jesus, all i need from you is to assure me that you will never betray the trust i am trying to entrust in your hand for the work of God, you ma

Please, I want you to understand that this benevolence is in fulfilment of the desire and decision of my late husband which I am persuaded to actualize, this fund is desiginated for humanitarian and Charity services with special emphasis, which must be disbursed with every appropriation, accountability and prudence to the glory of God.

Meanwhile,i could have donate this money here in my country, but the reason is that before the death of my late beloved husband he warned me not to let his relatives know about this money because they are unbleilvers and he don't want an atom of this money to be use in anything Islamic, and i don't intend to disobey him even in death.

I will want you to send to me your full names and address to enable me swear an affidavit on oath on your behalf that will officially and legally approve you as t

I will want you to kindly be fast on your arrangement on how the fund will be transfered to you before the fall of the crises in Ivory Coast, since the political affair has affected their economy. Most Important: I will like this to be so confidential and sincerelity, also bear in mind that can not call you on phone, all our comminucation will be via-email because of my late husband relatives.

an AMAZING OFFER from MRS. NAOMI SOLOMON

This stuff makes me soo happy.

"From Mrs Naomi Solomon
No[38 Rue Des Martyrs Cocody
Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire

ATTN:
DEAREST ONE OF GOD
I am the above named person from Kuwait . I am married to Mr Anthony Solomon who worked with Kuwait embassy in Ivory Coast for nine years before he died in the year 2004. We were married for eleven years without a child. He died after a brief illness that lasted for only four days.

Before his death we were both born again Christian. Since his death I decided not to remarry or get a child outside my matrimonial home which the Bible is against. When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of $2. 5 Million (Two Million Five Hundred U.S. Dollars) in the bank here in Abidjan in suspense account.

Presently, the fund is still with the bank. Recently, my Doctor told me that i have serious sickness which is cancer problem. The one that disturbs me most is my stroke sickness. Having known my condition I decided to donate this fund to a church or individual that will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct herein. I want a church that will use this fund for orphanages, widows, propagating the word of God and to endeavour that the house of God is maintained.

The Bible made us to understand that blessed is the hand that giveth. I took this decision because I dont have any child that will inherit this money and my husband relatives are not Christians and I dont want my husband efforts to be used by unbelievers. I dont want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly way. This is why I am taking this decision. I am not afraid of death hence i know where I am going. I know that I am going to be in the bosom of the Lord. Exodus 14 VS 14 says that the Lord will fight my case and I shall hold my peace.

I don't need any telephone communication in this regard because of my health hence the presence of my husband relatives is around me always I don't want them to know about this development. With God all things are possible. As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the bank here in Abidjan . I want you and the church to always pray for me because the Lord is my shepherd. My happiness is that I lived a life of a worthy Christian. Whoever that wants to serve the Lord must serve him in spirit and Truth. Please always be prayerful all through your life.

Contact me on the above e-mail address for more information, any delay in your reply will give me room in sourcing another church or individual for this same purpose. Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I Stated herein. Hoping to receive your
reply.

Remain blessed in the Lord.
Yours in Christ,
Mrs naomi solomon."

e014 (keep 'em coming d00dr)

Hello there. How's it going, eh? That's super cooool.

I'm here once again with music for anyone who is into good-ish music. Maybe sometimes great music, but that's up to you, isn't it?

Also, I'm adding a new option to the songs I post...from this point on, I will list the iTunes & Amazon download link for the artist, in case you feel like monitarily supporting the artists found here. Sooo...take advantage and actually purchase music. Word.

Hadouken! is named after probably the coolest special move ever. There music lives up to the awesomeness that is Ryu's trademark attack. Hard-hitting techno beats with lyrics about partying and breaking stuff...all ingredients for some pretty fun songs.
(mp3 download) Hadouken! "Get Smashed Gate Crash"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

Yeah, this song is old, but it's still one of my favorites. Ladytron, for me, is hit-or-miss. I don't exactly love everything they do, and I find a bunch of songs extremely boring. But ever since I heard this in a Tilt Mode Army skate video, it has been what I constantly think of when this band pops up.
(mp3 download) Ladytron "The Way That I Found You"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

Two brothers from New Orleans named The Knux. Their debut album "Remind Me in 3 Days..." is guitar-laden and filled with rockin' beats. Catchy songs, I might add. They are definitely something different, which is why I likez 'em. Here is "Bang! Bang!"
(mp3 download) The Knux "Bang! Bang!"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

I've been a huge fans of Living Legends since high school. Also a big fan of Marty James (Scapegoat Wax, One Block Radius). So when this came out on a Legends sampler a few years ago, I was all over it. This is off of Luckyiam PSC's latest solo effort "Most Likely to Succeed."
(mp3 download) Luckyiam PSC "Another Day feat. Marty James"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

I found these guys off the wonders of last.fm (which is better than Pandora, in my opinion). They make really nice relax/chill/cruise music and their name is Mobius Band. And their album "Heaven" is filled with this stuff. Extremely worth picking up. Check 'emmm.
(mp3 download) Mobius Band "I Am Always Waiting"
purchase: iTunes | Amazon

By far, one of my favorite Violent Femmes tracks. The simplicity of the music and the relatable lyrics is one makes this one for me. It's just a soothing love song, for you and your ladiez...makes me happy.
(mp3 download) Violent Femmes "Good Feeling"
purchase: Amazon

Another one in the can. I'll be back Wednesday, with more tracks and maybe, just maybe, Ethan's latest musicz. But we'll see...laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate.

e013 (it's FRIDAY NIIIIIGHT!)

Hey dudes.

It's the 12th. And a Friday. Both meaning more music.

Let's get into it...oh, and the above picture I stole from some chick on myspace...not a fan of hyphy, but a fan of stupidity...sometimes.

So, these guys are from LA. I saw them open for G&E some months back in San Diego, and they put on a pretty sweet show...complete with Bel Biv Devoe dance breakdowns and everything. Their called Pacific Division and definitely "creepin on ah come up." Here's one of my favvvz.
(mp3 download) Pacific Division "Ack' Like U Chillin'"

100dbs released a mash-up album a few months back...I think I found it on either digg.com or thedailyswarm.com, but it escapes me know. The album mixes Aphex Twin tracks with vocals of several different artist...basically defining a mash-up. This version of "Fuck the Pain Away" kills the original...in my opinion. What do you think?
(mp3 download) 100dBs "Fucking You in the Face (Crying the Pain Away)"

I searched so long to find an .mp3 or CD with this track on it. Daedelus released the instrumental on "Of Snowdonia," I believe, but call me out if I'm wrong. Well, Pigeon John and Busdriver came along and added soo much more to it...all in all, killer.
(mp3 download) Daedelus "Something Bells feat. Pigeon John & Busdriver"

Dabyre makes beats that remind me of The Terminator. Plain and simple. Space-age, hard-hitting beats. When Doom just adds to the dark, futuristic alley feel of this track. Here' is a track off the album "Two/Three." Yeaaaahhh...
(mp3 download) Dabyre "Air feat. Doom"

Okay, "A Milli" is possibly one of the most irritating beats ever created in the world of humans or creatures from deep space. But everyone and their mother has to record themselves "TEARIN'UPDATRAXX." Well, maybe not that bad...but sort of...anyway, here are my two favorite takes on that overdone song.

First, a 22 year-old, white kid from PA. He sounds like Eminem, which is sort of off-putting. He doesn't rap the same, just the voice, but I'm getting past it. His name is Asher Roth and this freestyle...baller as shit.
(mp3 download) Asher Roth "A Millie Freestyle"

Busdriver is an amazing artist and performer, and he put his own spin on the track. Here's "Pennyaire." The quality is kind of crappy, but hey, it's still good, and who can't get down with "Mutha fuckas got bills."
(mp3 download) Busdriver "Pennyaire"

Alright, that's it until next week, yo. Let me know if you are digging this stuff, it gives me motivation to keep going...so, I hope your ears are smiling and speak with you next weekz.

e012 (ethan is a liar)

IT'S WEDNESDAY!!!

And time for music. I know I promised Ethan's first mash-up...but he is taking his sweet time with it, so who knows when it will be ready...hopefully soon.

Now, let's take a gander at what I have for you this wonderful day of the 10th of December.

Well...this song is fun. Yeah. Haha. Hate if you want, but I am down with some Whitney Houston sometimes. And because a certain someone played this song countless times on a certain trip, it is now burned into my brain. Look out for the sweet "dance" commands near the end of the track.
(mp3 download) Whitney Houston "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)"

A Place to Bury Strangers is a pretty kick-ass band from NY. Shoegaze stokes me out sometimes, and this is one of the bands that I choose to listen to at those times. Anyways, The CLAPP (two dudes seem to be all about remixes) came along and gave their spin to APTBS' single "I Know I'll See You." GET DOWN.
(mp3 download) A Place To Bury Strangers "I Know I'll See You (The CLAPP Remix)"

This band's name has to be the most emo-tastic in recent history. I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness makes some sweet groovin' songs. The kind that you just space out too, with the constant basslines and drifting vocals keeping you zonin'. This is one of my favorite jams from these dudes.
(mp3 download) I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness "According to Plan"

This remix is seriously a match made in hipster heaven. The hippest band of the first half of 2008, Justice, remixing the hippest band of the last half of 2008, MGMT. You know the song, you know the style, you know the faces. Just check out this ballerdropper.
(mp3 download) MGMT "Electric Feel (Justice Remix)"

Getting all 80s up in your earholes. This song stokes me out sooo much. Just fist pumping all day. Rod Stewart released this song about teenage runaways back on his "Tonight, I'm Yours" album a little bit before he lost all credibility with a song about old ladies being attracted to him. No matter where he stands today, he was a legitimate awesome-person. Yes, awesome-person.
(mp3 download) Rod Stewart "Young Turks"

I picked this up at Amoeba yesterday and had to just add a 6th track. It was filed under Electronica, but should have been Jazz or Funk...I think it was put in the wrong place because of this song. It's a jazzy tribute to The Prodigy's "Voodoo People." That must have made someone at the store think it belonged in the wrong section...oh well. Here's 6ix Toys.
(mp3 download) 6ix Toys "Voodoo People"

That's it for today, I'll be back on Friday with more sounds for your rockcanals. I love this, I can make up any words I want. Man, later on flighthammers.

e011 (hooray for zShare!)

Hola. Por favor.

Yes, "Hello. Please."

Alright music!

#1. Rivers Cuomo. You know who he is, and if not GOOGLE it. The guy has released two home demo albums under the title "Alone." This track is off the most recent one, "Alone 2." It's called "I Don't Want You to Go," and it's a nice pretty slow song. For you and your babiez.
(mp3 download) Rivers Cuomo "I Don't Want You to Go"

Numero TWO. I gots for you somez Late of the Pier. They're a pretty sweet band from across the pond. And by the judge of Does It Offend You, Yeah?'s myspace top friends, pretty cool dudes in their book, so pretty cool dudes in mine...even though I don't know any of those people. You get it. Get it?
(mp3 download) Late of the Pier "Random Firl"

Here's the meat of of the tasty burger. Filled up with Infadels. Don't know much about this band except they released a pretty baller album called "Universe in Reverse." And this song has been super caught in my head for daaaayz now. Let it dig a hole in yours, and think of unicorns and rainbows.
(mp3 download) Infadels "Free Things for Poor People"

Now we are gonna get a little emo. I usually don't dig this guys stuff, but man this song is a hoe-downin' good time. It's off of Conor Oberst's new "solo" album. I say "solo" because his usual project Bright Eyes is basically him and only him. Anyway, enjoy this tuney-tune.
(mp3 download) Conor Oberst "I Don't Want to Die (In A Hospital)"

Now we are going SUPERCOOL. Wind back about 10 years or so to the "Boy Band Era." There was this wonderful little group from Canada called Soul Decision. They released one of the catchiest songs of the time...which also doubles as the story of a drunken sexual harrasser dude. But anyway, get up to get down. And listen to the generic rap from whomever Thrust is supposed to be. All this shit-talkin' should not deny this group they made a very entertaining track.
(mp3 download) Soul Decision "Faded feat. Thrust"

Well, that's it for today, enjoy these jams and look forward to next Wednesday when I'll have some more good jimmy-jams plus Ethan's first mash-up...I've heard a preview and should be super awesome...trust.

<3

god damn sitesled...

My host deleted my account again...I'll find a new one and re-host these tracks...sorryyyz.

***UPDATE: I'm using zshare now...soo dig it.

e010 (i bought leather pants today)

Hey, so I'm a day late...but certainly not a dollar short. But take what you can get man.

Let's get this going, because I'm about to get to doing something...WOOAWESOME.

Alright, first off is the new single off Common's new album, "Universal Mind Control." I usually don't dig on his stuff, but this has that old Afrika Bambaataa flavor that makes me oh so happy. So here, is the titular track...

Now, it's Onry Ozzborn of Grayskul's new production venture entitled The Gigantics. The album "Die Already" has a star-studded featuring list. This is one of my favorite tracks off the album featuring Aesop Rock, Eligh, Reason and Ozzborn himself. Enjoy on this.

Let's indie things up with some Bear Colony. These guys are perfect for The Sea and Cake fans and just happy people who want to be soothed in general. Thank you Last.fm for learnzing me about these guys...now I learnz you.

Almost donezo.... Here is one of my favorite bands remixing another one of my favorite bands. This is The Faint's "The Geeks Were Right" remixed by Does It Offend You, Yeah? It's a pretty sweet take on the song, that at first I wasn't about. Buuuuut it definitely grew on me. And I hope it grows on you...I hope I grow on you...yeah.

LAST SONG! The Prodigy, or more specifically Liam Howlett, is one of my favorite musicz. And the first single off their new album "Invaders Must Die" makes me soo excited for March — when the album drops. Dave Grohl even plays drums on the record. Should be something exciting...I reckon.

we did a cover

My roommate Ethan and I made a cover of Jason Schwartzman's closing credits song from "Slackers."

It's pretty fun...at least I think so.

Here's the linkz:

e009 ("Cowboy Up" decals are silly)

Here's the Wednesday post...as promised.

I don't really know if anyone is following this actually. But if you are, let me know.

I put up a facebook fanpage and blogpage, so just search "minenameis" and join. Why not? I'm not asking for $...yet.

ANYWAY!

The music:

First up, I would like to give you a Kid Cudi track. It's off his 10 Deep mixtape "A Kid Named Cudi" and called "50 Ways to Make a Record." It's the Paul Simon song "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" all Cudi-ed up and a nice take at that. Soothe it.
(mp3 download) Kid Cudi "50 Ways to Make a Record"

I'm starting it up slow today. I just got this song off the Delicious Vinyl comp. "RMXXOLOGY." It's Hot Chip remixing The Pharcyde's classic "Passin' Me By." It's basically a completely different take on that song that adds a much darker and depressing tone, but definitely a goodie. Something for a rainy day.
(mp3 download) The Pharcyde "Passin' Me By (Hot Chip remix)"

Let's speed things up a bit with ANOTHER REMIX!!!1 Chromeo has been one of my favorite acts for a few years now, and "Fancy Footwork" was one of the best releases of 2007. So, they re-released the album with a handful of remixes and this is one of them. Here is the LIFELIKE remix of "Needy Girl."
(mp3 download) Chromeo "Needy Girl (LIFELIKE remix)"

Almost finished with today's stuff. Maybe I'll start posting more than 5, but probably not. Here is the next trackz. Tittsworth is cool, if only for his name — which is also his last name. He released a full-length entitled "Twelve Steps." And I haven't been able to get this song off my brain for awhile now. Here is "911 feat. Stimulus."
(mp3 download) Tittsworth "911 feat. Stimulus"

Now...for the last track. Two white dudes from Colorado who make music that sounds like an Electro version of Three Six Mafia. Yeah...I know. They go by the name 3Oh!3. The song — "Don't Trust Me" — is fun and has a super-catchy chorus. I don't know...I like it. Maybe you will, too.
(mp3 download) 3Oh!3 "Don't Trust Me"

Well, that's it for today. But look out for Friday's post as well as an old Chromeo interview I did. It was never published, and I just need to transcribe it. It should be interesting.

Until then...

e008 (a new beginning)

So, hello.

Haven't seen you in awhile, and my host deleted my account once again...most likely due to inactivity...again.

But I'm gonna change that. Yes, I can change.

And just FYI: I don't do themes.

Well, enough of the banter, here is today's playlist.

First offz, I have a little Minus the Bear for you. This is the first track off their digital/tour-only acoustic EP, aptly titled "Acoustics." It's always nice to hear good music from one of the coolest bands out right now, so here is "Guns & Ammo."
(mp3 download) Minus the Bear "Guns & Ammo"

Next, I give you a little something my housemate/friend/person made. His name is Ethan, and he makes good music. It's a nice little ditty, and brownie points if you can name the movie it samples. If you like what you here, you can check out myspace.com/ethanmusic for all his new jams and if he ever gets motivated enough to play a real show...well, it'll be on there.
(mp3 download) Ethan "Julie's Piano"

Facing New York started off as a 5-piece band. One member went back to school, and just recently they became a 3-piece after Matt Fazzi left for Taking Back Sunday. Although, I was always more of a fan of their live shows and not their actual albums, the latest release "Get Hot" is pretty different and sweet. This is my favorite track off the album as of the moment.
(mp3 download) Facing New York "Hardwood Floors"

Almost wrapping this one up. Second to last is off the new Ed Banger compilation. Ed Bang head Busy P handles production on this one, with Murs on rhymes. Almost like a match made in heaven. Enjoy this super electro tune about keeping the party alive.
(mp3 download) Busy P "To Protect and Entertain feat. Murs"

And now we have reached the end of today's playlist. Ending it is one of my top rappers right now. Josh Martinez (birth name: Matthew Kimber) has released what he calls his opus. The album is titled nicely enough — "The World Famous Sex Buffet." I am choosing it's closing track to close this post, it seemed fitting. So to you all you Sweethearts, goodnight until next time (hopefully Wednesday).
(mp3 download) Josh Martinez "Goodnight Sweetheart"

i'm gonna...

post some music tonight.

Yep.

Soo gonna do it.

e007 & various thangz

Hello.

It's been awhile, I know.

But I come with stuff for you.

A whole new mixtape (that I chose five months ago) and some images I grabbed with my cameraphone that I find interesting.

Let's go with the latter first.

Doesn't this defeat the purpose of something being "Battery Powered"?

These was outside the 7-11 by my house. Maybe I like fake moustaches or maybe I like how it says "sweet 'stache". Either way, I it makes me lolz everytime I leave that store.

It's a pirate-themed store called "Booty". They had a sale.

This is way too cool of a building for a KFC. It's just ridiculous.

The image of the guy getting crushed is absolutely awesome. I'm lolz'ng right now. So hard, and I think I creeped out the guy in the driveway of this house as I took this.

It's just as good as the "corrosive" sign:

Now, we have the mixtape.

Right off the bat we have Big Boi's first single of his upcoming album "Sir Luscious Leftfoot." It's called "Royal Flush" and features Raekwon and Andre 3000. It's reminiscent of early Outkast, and that get's me super excited for this album. We'll see you it rolls...
(mp3 download) Big Boi "Royal Flush feat. Raekwon & Andre 3000"

Next up is something off of NaS's "The Nigger Mixtape". It's called "Surviving the Times". The jam is supercool, and I'm sorry for not building it up more, but I'm tired, just listen and live.
(mp3 download) NaS "Surviving the Times"

Now, here is some old schoolz. Stiff Little Fingers are baller and this song is even more, I heard it years ago in a skate video, what year was it? I don't know. What video? I still don't know. Just jump on it and enjoy "Suspect Device".
(mp3 download) Stiff Little Fingers "Suspect Device"

Last there is Wale and his latest mixtape, "The Mixtape About Nothing". Entirely inspired by Seinfeld and contains numerous samples from the series. I don't know if this one is better than "300 Miles and Running," but it has some good tracks, such as this one... "The Manipulation".

Enjoy dudes and dudettes. Maybe it won't be forever until my next one... WORDZ.

e006

So, here we are again.

You may have noticed that my previous .mp3 links have ceased to function. My host decided it didn't like me, so it cancelled my account. No need to fret, I have reconciled with sitesled.com and have another five tracks for you all to enjoy.

First up, we have Kidz in the Hall. These Chicagoans (that can't be right, but whatever) makes some pretty alright and some pretty lame music. This track happens to be the former. The beat is a rework of Souls of Mischief's classic "'93 til' Infinity." The raps even sounds like Souls, but it's still good.
(mp3 download) Kidz in the Hall "Wheelz Fall Off ('06 'til)"

Next is off a little compilation entitled "Punk Goes Crunk." 80% of this album is really cool, but when rock bands cover more rockish hip-hop songs ("The Seed 2.0," "Hey Ya") it leaves one to wonder what the point was. But this version of Ol' Dirty Bastard's "I Got Your Money" is supersweet. Done by Say Anything for your listening pleasure.
(mp3 download) Say Anything "I Got Your Money"

Atmosphere's last album, "You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having," sucked major balls. In my eyes, Slug has fully redeemed himself on the duo's latest "When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold." This here is one of my favorite tracks, just Slug and a guitar backing him.
(mp3 download) Atmosphere "Guarantees"

It's been awhile since Living Legends have released a proper full-length. To hold us over until the next LP drops, they've released "The Gathering." Every single song features each of the LL crew. The last track is the ultimate "coming home late night" track. It's called "After Hours." Listen to it next time your driving home from a party, club, etc.
(mp3 download) Living Legends "After Hours (Extended Euromix)"

A couple of posts ago, I let you into the wonderful — possibly mentally challenged — world of Eli Porter from the Class of 2005. Well, now someone has created "The Elicist," which is basically a hodge-podge mixtape using snippets of that epic freestyle battle with Envy. Here is one of the tracks off that mixtape. Excuse the super-poor quality please.
(mp3 download) Eli Porter "Dirty Mix"

There it is. Hope you're happy.

real fucking cool Chipotle

So yeah, the Chipotle in La Mesa gives you Hepatitis A.

Woohoo for getting punished for eating good food by an asshole employee who didn't wash his hands.

For more information on this wonderful event check out the Food Poisoning Law Blog.

UPDATE:

Picture 1

There have been 14 cases connected with it, google "chipotle hepatitis" because I don't feel like posting a link, rather my Internet doesn't feel like letting me.

Hello. This my latest track selection. Enjoy this crap.

Let's start with Refused. Listening to this band in the context of their time reveals how amazing their music is. A whole heapload of bands today are basically ripping off what Refused did ten years ago. They are broken up now, and they're last days are chronicled in the documentary "Refused Are Fuckin' Dead." Although it is somewhat heavy-handed, it's still a good watch. Here is probably my favorite track from them, "Better Off Dead."
(mp3 download) Refused "Rather Be Dead"

Now, we'z gonna get funky. You know Daft Punk? Well, this song was heavily sampled for "Robot Rock." In fact, that entire song is made up of one riff from "Release The Beast" by Breakwater. 9th Wonder also sampled this for the intro of the Murs album, "3:16 The 9th Edition." Here you go...
(mp3 download) Breakwater "Release the Beast"

The Office (the British version) supposedly inspired this band name, Does It Offend You, Yeah? Google how, I don't feel like typing it all out. But their debut album is legit. Each song has a different style to it, but able to keep with the whole theme of the album, which is electronic kick-ass. Here is one of my favorite tracks from the album.
(mp3 download) Does It Offend You, Yeah? "Dawn of the Dead"

OLD SCHOOL. Whodini. "Freaks Come Out At Night." Enough said.
(mp3 download) Whodini "Freaks Come Out At Night"

Lastly, we have Tech N9ne. I recently went to his show at House of Blues and was actually pretty stoked in the end. This dude puts on a fun show, even did his own version of "What, What, In The Butt" from South Park. This is off one of his early, early albums.
(mp3 download) Tech N9ne "This Ring"

Ya' dig?

demonoid lives

Demonoid.com is back online. Fuck yes.

No more dealing with shitty torrent sites.

And my original login still works.

Today is shaping up to be pretty sweet. I still have that useless Management of Media Organizations class at 430p...bummer.

P.S. I still buy albums. I just utilize demonoid to test them out. Why spend hard earned money on albums that are 5% awesome and 95% crap?

wow. eli has got mad skillz.

Yo, so this is a freestyle "battle."

It's the most entertaining thing I've seen all week. Yeah, I know we're only two days in, but whatever.

So, Envy seems to have his head on straight, though his flow is weak as shit. Eli on the other hand has to have some sort of mental damage, or he must be super special.

Anyway, watch Eli wreck Envy's shit.

Hey, what's up? Oh, really? That's supercool.

Now that the formalities are in order, here is my fourth mixtape.

I threw some rock in, that's right I did it. But there is still hip-hop involved. Another mixtape, another five songs.

So hereeeee we go:

First up is Brandston. I mostly dig this song because it mentions areas from where I live now. "Wonderful" San Diego. It's super-dancey stuff and also extremely poppy. But I likez it that way sometimes so here, without out further ado is Brandston's "Earthquakes and Sharks."
(mp3 download) Brandston "Earthquakes and Sharks"

Hello, Jupiter One. I don't know much of anything about these guys, except for this song is good, and I can't find their album anywhere. In other words — an awesome situation. If you know where I can get this by walking from my house, please let me know.
(mp3 download) Jupiter One "Platform Moon"

Next, we have Neon Neon. I found out about these guys, because one of the members is producer Boom Bip. He's done beats for one of my favorite rappers, Busdriver. I figured since I like that stuff, I should check out this project. The album is super '80s influenced — some spots remind me of The Cars. There are also some super weird tracks, imagine The Cars with Spank Rock. Yeah, it's pretty sweet.
(mp3 download) Neon Neon "I Told Her On Alderaan"

Almost done, there are these two dudes from Chicago that go by the name The Cool Kids. Guess what. They're cool ... SURPRISE!! So far, they've got one EP sorta out, "Totally Flossed Out." I hear they're full-length is due out soon. I hope so. This is a remix of one of the tracks from their EP. Flosstradamus reinterprets this for our listening pleasure. Enjoy it.
(mp3 download) The Cool Kids "Pump Up The Volume (Flosstradamus Remix)"

Lastly, this one goes baaaaack. Remeber Mo' Thugs? The Bone Thugs-N-Harmony headed collective? Yeah, I do. Here is a track featuring Layzie Bone and Skano. An interesting side-note, one of the members of Mo' Thugs is Souljah Boy, notice the "h," meaning not the "Crank That" Soulja Boy. Yeah, Soulja Boy pulled the ole' Vanilla Ice move on 'em. IT'S NOT THE SAME, THAT LITTLE "DING" MAKES A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE. AHHHHH, ALL CAPS!!! Enough.
(mp3 download) Mo' Thugs "Heart Of It"

There you go. Have fun, live well. I hope you had as much fun as I did.

calling it

So the above video features Kobe Bryant sporting the new Nike Hyperdunk shoe. The fun doesn't stop there, he proceeds to jumps over an Aston Martin, which is driving pretty quick directly toward him.

Now, it's obviously fake. Or at least that's what I think.

And I'm right. Kobe's answer to the "real" question is "It's Hollywood, baby."

I could care less about the shoes, but I just want everyone to know that I'm calling it. What am I calling? An onslaught of idiots purchasing this shoe and being hit by cars, probably not ones as flashy as an Aston Martin.

The sales of this shoe will correlate with the amount of heads through windshields.

I'm calling it.

ballin'

straight ballin'.

all day.

garfield minus garfield

So, my wonderfully overweight coworker, Mike, just showed me these.

Go over to Garfield Minus Garfield and look for hilarious loneliness.

boredom? to the max.

I have about one hour until a meeting and then class and then production, a.k.a. I'm bored.

I don't really know what to say. This is kind of a filler. What am I filling? I have no idea.

Actually, I do have an idea. The internet here sucks. It won't let me do anything cool.

I'll have a legit post later tonight ... probably.

society?

So, a long, long time ago, I made a short. It was kinda sorta supposed to be for a film class, but not really. Don't ask.

Basically, me and a couple friends drove up to the local resevoir and shot this. Many other things were shot in the process: my sweet '87 Trans Am, Babak and my pride to name a few.

free charles manson album...holy shit!

So, Charles Manson has finally made his latest album, "One Mind," available for free on the internetz. Just with a simple click, you now have access to this wonderful piece of music. And it's under the Creative Commons license, so feel free to rip out those club remixes.

If you want to check it out, it's available by simply clicking the supercool hyperlink riiiiiiiiight here.

I haven't heard it yet, but here is a haiku describing what it probably sounds like:

Charles Manson sings,
There's creepy guitar too,
"One Mind" will kill me.

I'll update if my mind changes after hearing it.

some paper

So, this blog is going to expand.

Instead of just posting music, I'm going to post things I find interesting as well — I think that's what blogs are meant for, oh well.

Here are some interesting pieces of paper I've come across:

This one above is an exceptionally wonderful piece I found taped to a light pole near campus. These things were all over. One thing is clear, Tony G knows where and how to party. Did anyone go?

I found this shopping list tucked in a seat on the trolley. Here we see into the mind of the typical "live by public transit" type. What a wonderful specimen. Notice the party items followed up quickly by the "phone card" must-have. Any guess on the nationality on the creator of this list? most likely mexican.

e003

Alright, so here are a few tracks that have been helping me kill my iPod lately.

First is B.o.B. I read about him in the latest issue of URB and this guy's music is soooooo much fun. A another good example that "The South" can release quality music — and all he has released to date are mixtapes. He reminds me of Nappy Roots, a lot, mixed with Outkast, and all kinds of good stuff ... like Captain Crunch (best cereal ever). So, here is "Grip Your Body" off the "LRG: Hi, My Name is Bob" mixtape. It also features a nice Amy Winehouse sample. WOO for crack.

Next, I've got The Grouch. The Living Legends affiliate is old. By old, I mean making music for days and by "days," I mean years. He just released his latest album "Show You the World" earlier this month. It basically keeps my hopes high, in that, not all my favorite Left Coast underground rappers are crapping it up (i.e. Zion-I going hyphy, what the fuck?) This track has MURS on it, and although I just dissed hyphy eight words, a comma and a parenthetical mark ago, "The Bay to L.A." is cool. Hyphy music isn't necessarily bad because of the beats, but more because the lyrical content blows. So, here is a definite hyphy beat with some interesting lyrics doing it justice.

Crooked I. Good gangsta rap still exists? The LBC is still relevant? Yes, yes it does, and it is. Crooked I, who is obsessed with the word "BOSS" and wants you to know, has been releasing a freestyle per week since April 2007 for free. Each track uses a mainstream, well-known rap beat that Crooked I proceeds to destroy with his off-the-top rhymes. He's not very well-known these days, but for sure is something to check out. This is his freestyle from Week 50. Check it out, as well as all the other freestyles over at the Dynasty Entertainment Group Forum.

Almost done. This is Eligh. "Love Thrice" is a rework of Justin Timberlake's "My Love." 1/2 of G&E with the above-mentioned The Grouch and also a Living Legends member, Eligh's beats are out-of-this-world. I'm pretty convinced he could make Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" into a bangin'-ass song. This track is off the album he did with Magi entitled "The Brothers Grimm." Pick it up, it's filled with all kinds of cool tunes like this one.

Lastly, we have Mickey Factz. Another artist I read about in URB's latest issue. His flow ranges from fast-paced hardness to soft, I'm-gonna-sleep-with-your-girlfriend loveness. His mixtape "Heaven's Fallout" is available for free from his MySpace and you should probably check it out, because well ... it's free. This is one of the super-duper tracks from that mixtape.

Alright, so there you go, some jimmy-jams after a long hiatus from this thing. As my social life continues to dwindle because of school and work, this will probably become my main source of socialization, even if all my views come from me hitting the refresh button.

Fuck you, I'm happy.

prelude

So....I got my host, so, a few tracks will be up sometime today...ish.

Probably more hip-hop than anything else.

Is anyone reading this?

Am I...here?

I don't know, but this cat sure is:

interlude

Hey, yeah, so I've neglected this thing for days, absolutely days.

Now, I feel like getting back into it. My first two original posts don't do a damn thing, because I neglected the site that was hosting the tracks as well.  Payback's a bitch.

But yeah, as soon as I get my account up-and-running again, I'll try and give this thang some more lovin'.

Lovin'.
